I just got around to plugging the June flow of funds numbers into my various spreadsheets, and discovered, to my amazement, that as of the first quarter of 1998, the U.S. net credit market debt position with the outside world was -$1.77 trillion dollars. Good thing it's a new era - might be worrisome otherwise.
