monibomber

Four thoughts.

Clinton was her boss, the highest boss in the US, the commander in chief. This is not a matter of a private affair. As usual with this borderline personality in the White House, he was ruthlessly abusing his power to exploit a woman. His wife assumes the typical role of piece of bourg property, and acts right in exchange for some goodies.

It is a very good bet that Monie is not the first, or even in the first dozen. Several presidents, inculding Kennedy, have been compromised by women. The recklessness of Clinton's activity speaks, again, to a borderline personality, one who knows not what might be appropriate, and is out of control, at least in these instances.

Bombing Afhanistan and Sudan must be seen at leas in part in the context of Clinton's inability to steer a straight course through the Monica et al problems.

But it also must be seen in the global context of (a) making it clear that the "indespensible nation" is bound by no laws or mores, that the US is no longer going to seek allies and permission (Grenada, Gulf War)for its clearly illegal activity. So this is something of new step. Moreover 75-100 Cruise missiles cannot be that closely targeted from 500 to 700 miles. Obviously, this means that there is an element of terror aimed at worldwide civilian audiences who might have once considered thumbing their noses at the US (in the face of predictable economic turndowns). Also, placed so strategically close to India and Pakistan, and their practice a-bomb ranges, this may be more than a message to a billionaire former CIA asset gone rogue.

At issue, it seems, is how the movement for equality and democracy will be able to grapple with this radical monibombing and further build a base for social change. At the same time, it can be seen as a test of what base is already there. For example, those who have been touting the "new" labor movement should be presenting some proof of this movements anti-imperialist nature, or will the Sweeneys not actually be demanding to see job growth in bomb-defense plants (and where are they with the AFL campaign financing indictments btw?) ?

Albright is very clear that this is the beginning of an ongoing campaign. She has some Cruises left it appears. Given the places chosen for the bombing attacks, the US can reasonably expect retailiation. So, beyond the demonstrations and spectacles, what is the best way to reach into peoples hearts and build the understanding that this is not in their interest?
