Marx "admired" Darwin

I don't think there is anything particularly "underground" about Stephen Jay Gould's Marxism. As a "red diaper baby" he has long been active on the left. Back in the 1970s he was a prominent activist in groups like "Science for the People." He has on occasion in his column in *Natural History* referred to his Marxism and he in fact is a member of the editorial board for the journal *Rethinking Marxism.*
