I don't know much about him either except that he's not that political and comes from Missouri. He written some books and writes regularly for Time magazine. I think he once was a regular journalist. He is REALLY funny when in public, though, whatever one feels about his poems; I saw him on cable when he was a guest at the National Press Club. On Johnny Carson's late night show he called Victor Navasky, the publisher and former editor of The Nation, the "wily and parimonious one." And Ken is right in saying Trillin coined the phrase "Sabbath gasbags."
