As a literature scholar, I can confirm that there's nothing realer than fiction. Even cash, that most liquid of all assets, is a fiction, a note backed by the Federal reserve. Hell, even the notion of *gold* is a fiction -- it's just a shiny metal in the ground, transmogrified by our weird little Earthling culture into a storehouse of value.
