It was. I think that quote can be found in book by the woman that used to be his assistant (when he was living in Jersey) and wrote a book about the experience a few years ago. The author and book title escape me at the moment. I think she quotes it in the context that he said to her (about gay civil rights) "we're all multiculturalists now".
