Only someone with zero experience in political activity (or perhaps the
writer of a Nation editorial) could say anything as absurd as this. It has
the earmark of all really empty utopian schemes: Only after we have
achieved power can we create the conditions by means of which we can
achieve power. Only after the people have power can the people have power.
And just who is this "we" that is going to do all this returning and
achieving and controlling?
