Thanks for finishing my sentence; it reminds me that I was vague. I was not talking about an alternative to Bill Gates' products (not that Linux is a credible one), but rather an alternative to the notion that because Bill Gates is one of the owners of Microsloth he is entitled to the 'excess' fruits of the labor.
I mean, how do you convince someone to risk without the corresponding reward? I've never heard a credible answer to that one.
Isn't "Risk=Reward" hard-wired into animals somewhere near "F=MA"?
