How about this as a proof text for the race-sex nexus? From the New York
Times story by Rick Bragg (June 17) on the three guys who killed a black
man in Jasper Texas by dragging him around with a pickup truck until he
disintegrated:

"Relatives say Mr Brewer too learned hate in prison. Both he and Mr King
joined the Confederate Knights of America, a loosly organized prison gang
for white supremacists, although his lawyer, Bill Morian Jr, says Mr Brewer
joined the gang for protection.

   'If you don't join,' Mr Morian said, you become someone's wife.'"
