I will attempt to post news of events here as they happen and I have time. We have had five forums/debates of sorts with the R candidates, and not the D candidate who finds excuses to not be here. We are doing a large fundraising mailing.
I am a Vietnam veteran, former steelworker, and now a educator, working on a PH D in American Studies at the University of New Mexico. I am running on the Green Party platform since we are a major third party in NM. I won second with 30% of the vote in a three way race here two years ago for a local legislative race. Our Congressman, Steve Schiff, passed away in March from cancer so there is a heated special election in process.
The Ds are running a millionaire 30 yr old casino, banker and liquor distributor, and he is going over like a lead balloon. The Rs have a woman hand picked by Sen. Pete Domenici and she is stepping on the toes of the Rs who want a more conservative candidate. All in all it is good for us progressives. We need to raise some money fast, the election is in 49 days. If anyone can help, I would be most appreciative...
