The fossil fuel issue is the major problem from the ecological/environmental standpoint. There certainly are also these other public space/class/race/personal alienation aspects that have been brought up as well. But, since I see no hope for replacing the automobile, I think we have to hope for a clean automobile, in spite of Jim Heartfield's pollyanna views on environmental problems.
