Re *Salt of the Earth*: I saw this movie in a Washington D.C. theatre when
it was first released (it very soon simply disappeared), and (not being
involved at all in leftist politics at that time or for some years after)
it was years before I realized what I had seen, though I remembered it as
a superb film.
