One of the costs of sprawled development in the US is a mismatch between jobs and housing...jobs in manufacturing, wholesaling, and retailing have been moving to suburbs, meanwhile, exclusionary practices of suburbs make it difficult for poor folks and minorities in central cities to follow the jobs..they can't move to follow them, nor can they travel to them because they do not have access to an automobile or to adequate public transit...the result is high unemployment and income deprivation...Michael Hoover
