Without getting into Jim Heartfield's arguments at length, on at least one
point Louis P. is right. The Soviets *did* establish nature preserves (not
just plans for using resources) almost immediately after taking power. Many
of them still exist, but are endangered by the rapacious new capitalism of
the former SU and by the fact that the staff are essentially at this point
volunteers without resources.
