Tom,

Somebody may well have been forced out by an "anti-red" committee back in 1961, but when I gave a lecture in the University of Texas-Austin economics department in 1980, the very Marxist, Harry Cleaver, was there and tenured (and still is), as were Wendell Gordon and J. Liebhafsky, both old Ayresian institutionalists and proud of it. Gordon retired several years later without being forced to do so, I believe, while Liebhafsky "died with his boots on," if I am not mistaken (although I may be), but not while fighting off an anti-red committee.
