I'll agree: unleashing a controlled chain-reaction in order to boil water in order to turn a steam turbine sounds to me like rubbing two sticks together in order to light the JumboTron in Times Square. But really: do you expect that will continue?
Harnessing the atom before 'the oil runs out' is a real possibility.
