I'm sorry I haven't had more time to address these interesting criticisms, nor Doug's original, but work is heavy right now. Like James F I read and enjoyed Sidney Hook's book on Marx and Hegel and will certainly look out for Chris Sciabarra. Like I say, I don't mean to be evasive, but I haven't had any time to do much but delete a lot of excellent mails from my in-box.
