This is the Administration boast that more or less confirms Alex Coburn's 1996 prediction that the final goal of the Clinton administration would be the the gutting of Social Security. I would oppose Clinton and the Democratic Party for this alone were there not 100 other reasons to see the Dem Party as the cutting edge of the Capitalist offensive against the working class.

(I'm not bothering to repeat the arguments made some months ago on the viciousnessness of the slogan, "Save Social Security," which is playing the same role in the 2d Clinton term as "End Welfare as we know it" played in the first term.)
