if you haven't seen this, you should. louisiana supreme court has handcuffed legal clinics to keep them from aiding poor folks. here, the case was about a plastics plant that wanted to locate in a mostly black town against the residents wishes. according to the story, "the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry charged that the clinic overstepped its role of representing people who cannot afford lawyers." charming.
