Socialist China?

Dear Paula:

You are correct that China has allowed the dismantling of it's socialist medicine program (Barefoot doctors), which had been praised by public health experts around the world, even the AMA, before China's current path toward "market socialism". It is a major complaint of the Chinese leftists. I am not a specialist on heath matters, or any other matter really. But I will try to dig into it and revert back to you if I have something useful or encouraging to report. Perhaps others on the list can contribute. But, as you Americans say, quite correctly, we can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Happy Thanksgiving.
