Thanks Henry. Why Barefoot Doctors. Is that some nick name, or are you implying that the doctors were excellent, but had few resourses to care for people. Or do you mean they were badly compensated?

Did most people have access to good care, broadly, before the medicine program was dismantled? Was there a time when people were content and felt secure about health care?

Didn't people raise holy hell when they started losing access to medical care, if they didn't have lots of money, that is? At least amongst themselves.

I would really love to get some sense of how the majority of chinese people experience the situation, past and present. If you get time.

I think I would be good at playing capitalism, even though I could not stand dealing with money most of my life. I mean, I just read about that hot shot, RRichard Rainwater, in BW. What a dolt. And that wife of his. Where's a desperate crackhead with a gun when you need one? That's not the you-know-what, that's been in the news, of which you spoke in an earlier post? Talk about needing to discover the perpetual motion machine. The gambling thing has been sooooo overdone. Of course, I just don't get the greed thing, and that might be a problem.

I am soooo full. pms
