One comment on Mark Jones informative note.  Before we see a pc as a
miniaturized mainframe, keep in mind that the typical pc works
intermittantly -- even though many are left turned on -- while a
mainframe is often optimized to work more or less all the time.  This
correction does not refute Mark's point.
