Carolyn Merchant's book *Radical Ecology* might be a bit simple, and a
couple of the chapters really suck (ecofeminism and spiritual ecology,
anyone?) but it is a good overview, and she's got a decent bibliography.
The following books are all outstanding:
Laura Pulido, *Environmentalism and Economic Justice: Two Chicano Struggles in the Southwest* (U Arizona, 1996) Wolfgang Sachs, *The Development Dictionary* (Zed, 1995) Richard Hofrichter, ed. *Toxic Struggles: The Theory and Practice of Environmental Justice* (New Society Publishers, 1993) Robert Gottlieb, *Forcing the Spring: The Transformation of the American Environmental Movement* (Island Press, 1993)
