Alabama: To Indonesia, down 88 percent; to Thailand, down 24 percent; paper products to Asia, down 52 percent.

Alaska: To Asia, down 41 percent; lumber and wood products to Asia, down 52 percent.

Arizona: To Asia, down 31 percent; to Japan, down 55 percent. Arizona ranks sixth among the states in exports to the region.

Arkansas: To Asia, down 40 percent; food products to Asia, down 35 percent.

California: To Asia, down 11 percent; electric and electronic equipment to Asia, down 12 percent. California is No. 1 exporter to Asia, accounting for 27 percent of U.S. exports to the region.

Colorado: To Thailand, down 38 percent; to Japan, down 9 percent; food products to Asia, down 11 percent.

Connecticut: To South Korea, down 14 percent; chemical products to Asia, down 36 percent.

Delaware: To Asia, down 20 percent; chemical products to Asia, down 22 percent.

Florida: To Asia, down 13 percent; chemical products to Asia, down 35 percent.

Georgia: To Indonesia, down 71 percent; to South Korea, down 29 percent; electric and electronic equipment to Asia, down 23 percent.

Hawaii: To Asia, down 37 percent; refined petroleum products to Asia, down 58 percent; tourism with Japan, down 25 percent from 1995 to 1997.

Illinois: To Asia, down 16 percent; industrial machinery and computers to Asia, down 47 percent. The state is the fifth-biggest exporter to Asia.
