As were the French revolutionaries, when they raised their muskets and fired on the clocks in public squares and whatnot (Goethe's "Stay! Moment so fair"). Maybe Adorno was right after all, and the biggest danger is believing in an automatic, clockwork progress which can dispense with mere human beings and their countless imperfections -- in which case, all the more reason to think against the herd, and avoid preaching economic catastrophe just because the Wall Streeters who own our mass media are getting clobbered by the same machinery they themselves set into motion.
