Who is Samuel Phillips Huntington?

He is one of the elite planners in the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a long time member and Trustee. He is also with the American Enterprise Institute. One of the CFR's most influential scholars, he wrote the infamous " The Crisis of Democracy " in which he basically asserts the truism that it is difficult to conduct business in a Democracy. The solution...less Democracy. Both " Crisis " and " Clash " came out as articles in Foreign Affairs magazine, the mouthpiece of the CFR/ Eastern Establishment / Ruling Elite, and were later expanded into books.

The Clash of Civilizations was not happily received by the " Free Market/ Globalization types because their philosophy of the New World Order is (was?) that stability and prosperity come with Neo-Liberal economics. The new Laissez Faire Capitalism. Or as we simple folk call it, UNBRIDLED GREED.

Huntington is of course right. As a result of the push towards Globalization and the World Citizen/ Universal Consumer, people who were expected to happily comply by giving up their national, ethnic, religious, or regional identities, are regrouping into the identity groups they most identify themselves as. The " Patriot " movement in America is an example of this. Religious fundamentalism of all stripes is another.

The two major economic " philosophies " in this century have both now made the same mistake due to wishful thinking. World Socialism, and World Capitalism have failed to produce the Universal Man / Woman. This is why I predicted as long as two years ago that Globalization COULD NOT WORK because it is being imposed from the top down, and requires of people something they are not ready to give up. That is - their ethnic, religious, or nationalist identities. Coca- Cola and Mickey Mouse and shitty hamburgers, are not something to aspire to if it means giving up your cultural identity.

Duh!

Does that mean that Billy and the Wall Street Clintonistas ( under the real leadership of Robert Rubin ) will see the error of their ways now that their best laid plans are crumbling around them? Hell no ! Why? Because THEY ARE FUCKING INSANE ! Who but a raving lunatic would go to a disintegrating Russia and tell those desperate people that they need to stay the course that drove them into hunger and poverty in the first place?

A couple of weeks ago, I posted " Does Capitalism Cause Insanity?" A piece which appears to be done as tongue in cheek. The message though is clear and unambiguous. When it comes to accumulating vast amounts of money and power, even the most rational intellectuals lose the ability to see reality. Now the people of the world will have to pay for their psychoses.

Holy shit! When are we going to learn??? You can't allow the Rich to control the important institutions of your society. They always screw things up.
