NOTE: This is an activity being supported by some of the BRC activists. Please circulate information on other initiatives so we can build our movments into strong powerful forces.

The Oct 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality exists to help develop a visible nationwide movement against police brutality. It aims to help victims of this brutality stand up and resist AND to get others thruout society to stand with these victims in this struggle.

This Oct 22nd will mark the 3rd annual National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality. I urge you to help build for this day.

TO HELP MAKE OCT 22ND A SUCCESS THIS YEAR YOU CAN:

Endorse the call of Oct 22, 1998 and distribute it. (See the web site)

Contact the national organizing effort.

Visit the Web site (http://www.unstoppable.com/22).

Call the 888-NO BRUTALITY number and get Oct 22nd materials.

Join the organizing effort nearest you, or start a committee in your area.

Distribute the Stolen Lives book, which lists people murdered by the police and encourage people to submit names to include in it.

Plan an event in your area for Oct 22nd and organize people to wear black that day.

Invite the Oct 22nd National Speakers Bureau and/or organizers of the Oct 22nd Student/Youth network to speak at your campus, in your community or on radio or tv shows.

Raise money! Hold a fundraising event, encourage people to contribute and contribute yourself. Contributions are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to IFCO/Oct 22nd and sent to Oct 22 c/o KHL Inc., 160 1st Ave, NY, NY 10009.
