Quite possible, considering that, based on historical averages, the Dow should be around 5000 or so, and that the US stock market has none of the institutional safeguards the Nikkei had and still has (extensive cross-shareholding, omnipresent Government intervention, that sort of thing). Since US corporate profits are melting away almost as fast as the Thai economy, this October is going to be, shall we say, *interesting*. Anyone want to guess at the scale of the inevitable post-crash bailout of mortally wounded banks and other credit agencies?
