Hmmmmm! If you say "lboster" three times fast it sounds like the word "lobster". I don't remember where I first heard this, it think it was in discussion rather than through reading, but the expression "lobster salad socialist" has been around a long time and it is not meant as a compliment. I am not posting this to be flip:

Well, if memory serves, someone on this list has an oak tree plantation and wants to learn to pound down acorns into flour. He must be a billionaire. In our culture, at this particular time, it is more socially acceptable to be gay than it is to publicly present yourself a Marxist or a Socialist. You can get stomped by skinheads just as thoroughly being red as being gay. And without any sympathy from faghags or from anyone else. If anyone on this list is well-heeled (certainly not me!) I would like to remind them of the long tradition of bourgeois class traitors the most famous of whom is Fredrich Engels. I don't think the either avocation, leftist intellectual activity or leftist organizing, punches a hole in anybody's meal ticket. We do it because we must. Everyone is welcome. Someone has to do it if humankind is ever to emerge from prehistory.
