Unfortunately, her efforts can be compared to trying to convince Vandals to spare cultural treasures of Rome.

Most Yanks are philistines that have no appreciation of culture other than what is produced in Hollywood. One story has it that an US Air Force officer, seeing the ruins of the Colosseum when the US forces enterd Rome in 2nd World War, said: "Nice work of our bombers."

Another story has it that an US tourist accidentally broke a vase on a display in a museum in China. The guard runs to him and yells "What have you done?!! You've broken a thousand-year old vase!" "Oh, thanks god" answers the tourist relieved, "I was afraid it was new."

Q: How do time and space differ between Europe and the US? A: In Europe, hundred kilometers is "far away." In the US, hundred years is "long time ago."

Cheers
