The assertions below are highly questionable, to say the least, for anyone interested. The president of SEIU is Andy Stern, and he is no "gangster." Neither is Sweeney. SEIU in fact focuses on low wage workers, particularly in health care, as someone else mentioned, and as even this post indicates re: the West Coast. Jobs of the home care workers in California who just joined the SEIU are as unstable as anyone's. I'll leave the story of their expansion to someone expert in the history. Maybe Eisenscher will indulge us, if he has a minute. [EPI is funded by both the AFL and SEIU. If anybody wants to make something of that, go right ahead.]
