This is purely miltonic, a (false) truism repeated in hundreds, perhaps thousands, of dull articles on Paradise Lost and Paradise Regaine. It utterly ignores Marx's proto-marxist recognition that
The COINCIDENCE [emphasis added] of the changing of circumstances and of human activity can be conceived an rationally understood only as *revolutionising practice.*
And of course Dorothy Day could not even conceive of speaking of human activity as prior to and forming of "the heart."
