k.m. quotes doug as saying:

>Vouchers are a
>diversion from this fundamental issue <snip> more funding *is* needed

you know what? more funding ain't needed. not really. if that fucker george sorryass and his mates are spending 23k per pupil on schooling then george sorryass and his mates can fork over that cash to p.s. onegodamnedeighty-seven and maybe even p.s. onefriggintwenty-eight too.

oh, this is a problem? well if george sorryass and his mates follow sports then i'd suggest that if they think the pro-sports draft is kewl, then they'd best apply the same logic to schooling. in that all american of institutions, pro sports, the winners don't get to pass all the benefits of their winning position to the next season do they? no, the losers in the competitions get first pick of best players; winners get to pick among the ordinary and average, which still means their new players are pretty durn good.

just because george sorryass and his mates won in their season, it doesn't mean that their kids get to reap the benefits in terms of schooling during the next season. instead, they can go to schools that spend 10k per, while the kids of parents who lost out in the competition can go to schools that spend 15K for a shot at winning their season. and none of them need two olympic sized pools, two football stadiums, 20 grade super plush carpet, or damn television studios!!

that's fair. that's how they do it in the all american institution of sports, no? then hold george sorryass and his mates up to that standard of equity. i mean, it works in sports, right? it's fair there, right? why not in terms of public schooling?

and if george sorryass and his mates don't like having to put up with schools that spend 10k per pupil, then he can get involved in his kids' educations, which will make a big difference, as we know. i mean mr. civil society himself can really take advantage of and thereby strengthen civil society in his own actions. moreover, if these parents are so worried, then they ought to take their own advice: spend a little time with the kids and see to it that they work hard and apply themselves and get the most they can out of what they have around them: public libraries, museums, and the like. george sorryass and his mates can supplement any failings in the schools they're stuck with quite easily coz lord knows that his kids are going to reap all sorts of benefits just from having been born into a family that can infuse them 24-7 with the right kinds of cultural capital, so they'll still be ahead in the competition anyway.

hyperbolically not kidding in the least. where does george sorryass live, doug, coz i'm hitting I-97 Northbound and i'm going to shame that guy and picket in front of his damn home.
