Don't know of any analysis by wankers (economists).  But some sociologists
have been interested in the economic size and importance of the drug trade.
See the third volume of Manuel Castell's study of the information age--the
chapter on the criminal economy (focus is on drug trade in Latin America).
Also latest the Review of African Political Economy (ROAPE) is about the
size and importance of the drug trade.
