What about the Mexican Revolution?
I don't know much about it, just read somewhere that leaders (Villa and Zapata anyway) went back to the land when it was over.
The post about Lane Kirkland's wine cellar meshed with a Noam Chomsky discussion of how representatives in Gringolandia hardly ever come from the working class, and if they do, they don't go back to it.
