Japan does too, as does South Korea, if you want to consider it an "advanced industrial country." There's a list at <http://www.amnesty.org/ailib/intcam/dp/abrelist.htm>. When I last looked into this, Japanese practice was to keep an execution secret - the condemned was informed only at the last minute of his imminent demise.
