Note that from 1900 to 1980  the gap drops steadily between white and black life expectancy in the first column. But from 1980 to 1996 the period of  Reaganism and the New Racism, the gap goes back up a bit. A main aim of  Reaganism was to stop the steady march to equality that the Black freedom movement had made against Jim Crow.  That march was on course for equity in life expectancy in approximately the year 2000 if I estimate the curves of the stats below correctly. 

The gap in general is one of the heaviest pieces of evidence that "racism do exist ". Year after year in almost all demographic and other indicators of the quantity and quality of life, mortality and morbidity, there is a gap between white and black. This is material evidence, empirical evidence, factual support for Black liberation theory, far from unfounded claims of being victimizatized by white supremacy (as the whole Reaganite line goes). 

I bet they don't keep life expectancy stats by class, huh ? That might beget a revolution.
