Religion and schools: a query

Carrol, I am a few years younger. I started school in 1944. I learnt that
blacks were sent to Africa because they disobeyed God -- I forget the Bible
story used as evidence. Jews were unclean and other advanced information
that was held back from you. Mind you I do not mean that all the teachers
were bigots who spewed out such stuff, but it was pretty common.
