Honoring the large amount of contingency in the world characterizes other modes of thought than "postmodernism" or whatever. In fact a failure to honor contingency enough is *one* of the sources of conspiracy theories -- which *also* detract from focus on systematic exploitation and oppression. This is one of the places where one ought at least to nod in the direction of dialectics and complexity.
