Hello all,

I am emerging from semi-lurkdom to ask a favor from you.

I have recently (two days ago) left my graduate program in philosophy, due to a combination of a. burnout with academia, b. Tampa burnout, and c. a surprise eviction notice on the second day of my comprehensive exams (this event being the proverbial Final Straw) . I am moving to NY in late January/early February, and am looking for some kind of union/nonprofit gig.

I held a variety of positions in my grad assistant union over the last couple of years, and have the normal sorts of verbs (editing/writing/training/analyzing/facilitating/interviewing/recruiting/neg otiating) on my resume that one might expect from such work.

I'd like to get some kind of policy analysis gig, but I think I'm probably more likely to get a staff job. I'm ok with that. I'm currently trying to figure out which unions I might want to work with--I don't know the NY scene at all. If you have suggestions as to which unions I might send a resume, or you know a person to whom I should send a resume, or if you just want to murmur encouragingly, I would welcome it. Please send any responses to me personally rather than the list.

Thanks in advance,

Frances
