in his forever-'forthcoming' book from verso _the holy fools_ barbrook argues that the *real* cause of the aerial bombings of cambodia was--you guessed it--deleuze and guattari.

barbie's a bit mad, imo. his historical method is a sort of jarryesque metacrucifixion: synchronic guilt by association combined with diachronic guilt by intellectual genealogy. in _the holy fools_ he abuses them en masse with religious ter- minology, which he invokes as though it were ipso facto bad. for someone who fancies that he's got a solid grip on history, i find this tendency peculiar; but i guess my respect for the history of religious thought is perverse by the standards of many self-styled progressives.

i can't really detect a clear difference between the 'calif- ornian ideology' he (and andy cameron, who has since vanished) denounced several years ago and this dot-communist mumbojumbo he's on about these days. there are some pardoies of dotkomm at <http://www.nettime.org/nettime.w3archive/199910/msg00017.html>.

oh, and he was a BIG booster of NATO during the war in FYU, fwiw.

cheers, t
