When I was in college not too long ago, aside from my first blow-job the most mind-expanding experiences I had were in direct action. We took over the administration building in support of need-blind admission (remember that?) and I learned more about power and society in those few days than in all my classes on the history of socialism, intellectual history, etc.

I am curious to know what information people are getting on the current national direct action campaign against sweatshop labour used for school apparel, and what they think of it. It is big news on my campus, basically because the kids here are kind of embarassed they haven't done much to push the issue. Given how much American college students love sport, this seems like an obvious wedge issue: geek radicals and athletic supporters alike against a wack global economy.

Or is it just consumer politics?
