Interesting article in today's NYT on how welfare "reform" in Wisconsin,
which has reduced the rolls by 80-90%, has put a tremendous burden on
families, especially women, and more especially grandmothers, as they end
up caring for the children of kicked-off mothers. Capitalism may not need
the nuclear family, but in this case it needs the "extended" family.
