British Labor Leaders

Dear Doug and the LBOers,

I'll be the first to admit that I know little or nothing about the
British labor movement. I think they spell labor, different than we do.
Labour, or somthing quaint like that.

Now for what I do know. Arthur Scargill is the president of the British
mine workers union. George Will once described him as a "slimy
reptilian" on Sunday morning TV and in his nationally syndicated
newspaper column. I was outraged by Will's remarks. I mean you don't
talk about the president of a mine workers union in that way. Even Tony
Boyle got more respect than poor Arthur.

Ok, who is Tony Monk? Tell us a little about him. I have been told that
there is more than one labor confederation in Britian, what's that all
about? What are the British Steelworkers like. Are they all doing the
full monte?

Enquiring minds in America want to know?

Your email pal,

Tom Lehman
