My thought is that you'll never know if you don't try it. But, as for the research idea, why limit yourself to the local scene. It's so easy to put up a web page, with interactive forms. I'd be happy to help you with very simple guidance (hope I'm not assuming too much here: you probably know all about web publishing? sorry if I am. . .) It's no big deal really - web publishing, that is.
