Ah, the tricks of memory. I hadn't recalled this at all from reading
Russell's autobiography years ago. What does stick in my mind from that
work is (1) Russell's horror in walking the streets of London right
after World War I began and finding so many people gleeful, and (2) the
abuse Russell experienced from the American right following World War
II.
