Today, somebody responded with a post (appended below) that may interest y'all. I, for one, frequently fall into the error of thinking that Americans are beyond redemption. I'm not suggesting that the rest of you do that. It's just that whenever America goes to war in the Gulf it seems that ALMOST everybody is on board the killing train, and I get awfully discouraged.
Well, to be fair, Americans haven't seen a whole lot of photographic evidence of our national crimes since Vietnam. Anyway, here's how a non-political musician reacts to the real thing:
"I saw the pictures on the site you posted. I read the articles. I am disgusted. Sickened. Saddened.
I mean, for all intents and purposes, it would seem to me that we have another Holocaust going on right now in 1999. I had no idea what the hell was going on over there. I had heard overtones of "ethnic cleansing" on the news, etc, but had never really paid it too much mind. It's easy to ignore it when you have it so damn good. My, how we take our lives for granted.
I am sincerely sorry this is happening to your people.
What kind of man orders a massacre like this?? What kind of man can wake up every morning and look in the mirror knowing he is not only responsible for tearing families apart but responsible for the deaths of his brothers and sisters? WHAT kind of man is so demented that he would MURDER his fellow human beings simply because of their heritage? It's been going on since Jesus was hammered to a cross like a fuc&^% scarecrow by another demented so-called "leader," Pontious Pilat (sp)...
For many people less fortunate than I, there is truly a hell on earth.
I shall protest. I will put together a song and get it up on MP3.com asap.
Deep regards,
