TO THE SUMMIT--In Butler, Pa., last week, AFL-CIO Secretary-
Treasurer Richard Trumka kicked off the first of dozens of
community summits on strengthening Social Security. The
nearly 200 people attending "learned that there's no crisis,
and they understand the forces against Social Security,"
said Ed Grystar, president of the Butler County Labor
Council. Summits are planned for Illinois, Wisconsin,
Pennsylvania, Iowa, California, Indiana, Louisiana,
Connecticut and New York, with more yet to be scheduled. For
information on how to set up a summit, contact Ken
Grossinger in the AFL-CIO Legislative Department at 202-637-
