"Forever" is a long time, but that said, I would assume that it is almost self-evident that capitalism can go on "forever," probably with increasing misery for billions, certainly without any significant increase in general human well-being. I have never based my socialist perspective on any belief in "collapse." Rosa Luxemburg's "barbarianism" was certainly accurate for the remainder of the 20th century and is the most likely prospect for the 21st.
