Gordo retired from the NHL when he was 52. He was the only player to play on a line with his two sons. In good Canadian fashion, he was a very strong and very tough man. He was complaining of migraines when the doctors decided to operate on him. They made their first incision in his skull and the blood from his brain came out and hit the roof.
Jay: I played Tier II&III in the Vancouver area. I was trying to get a scholarship, Tier I players are ineligible to play university hockey. I tried out for the Prince Albert Raiders [Mark Messier's junior team] when some guy sucker punched me and I lost my bottom 3 teeth, ending my career.
